Belmont Book Week

Our Book Week is one of the highlights of our school year.  As ever, it was great fun to see the children out and about in costume and to have a go at guessing their characters.  They have been much inspired by the author visits, courtesy of the BHSA.  I have been seeing older children clutching books by Gareth Jones that they are clearly not able to put down, and we have our own original illustrations by Chris Wormell, of some very unusual creatures, on display around the School.  Thank you for all your support with activities during the week.

The careful organisation of our Book Week, which makes it such a success, is down to our Literacy Leader, Kate Steer.  The main reason for us holding an annual Book Week is to inspire a love of books and of reading in our children: a joy in words well used, facts that fascinate, plot-lines and characters that entertain, that in turn spills over into the children’s own writing.  Thanks to Kate for all her hard work and to the parents that came in to assist with the ever popular book fair.
