Belmont Tennis Champions - part 1

On Wednesday 2nd July, we sent a Year 4 tennis team to the Year 3 and 4 Hounslow Tennis Festival at Dukes Meadow.  Our five mixed doubles pairs played at least three matches each and were undefeated - and only one match was drawn!  This meant that Belmont are overall Hounslow borough tennis champions.

Another exciting feature of the day was that that all the children participating broke the existing Guinness World Record  with an overall total of 758 people involved in " The World's Largest Tennis Lesson" (subject to confirmation by GWR) .The attempt was headed up by Judy Murray who had set the previous world record in the USA of 406.

Judy Murray has highly praised the effort, commitment and enthusiasm of all the children involved with special reference to the high levels of sportsmanship shown throughout the day.  Conditions were tough for the teams with high temperatures (both indoors and outdoors) but they all persevered and it was clear that our children had throughly enjoyed their day.  On their return to School, they were falling over themselves with excitement to show Miss Coates the trophy they had won!

Well done to Kuba, Kane, Jack, Rose, Jemima, Celina Martin, Zack, Zach, Coco Mae and Hanna. Thanks to Vicki  Bridges for accompanying them there and cheering them on.

At the end of the day we learnt that the children had qualified for the London Youth Games at Crystal Palace taking place the very next day!
