Hounslow Cricket Finals

On Monday 12th June, 8 children from Year 5 went to the Year 5/6 Hounslow Borough Cricket finals at Indian Gymkhana. The children had been learning cricket in PE for 6 weeks prior to the event and it was an opportunity for them to demonstrate the skills that they had learned. The children played a total of 5 matches throughout the day and in between got the opportunity to practice different skills in various cricket based activities and mini games. The children constantly improved as the day went on, increasing their run score with each match. There were also a couple of contenders for ‘catch of the day’ when it was their turn to field. Overall, the team finished a very creditable 10th in the borough – an amazing achievement for a team so new to the sport. The team also had the added bonus of being recognised for their great sportsmanship and fair play with Muhra winning the sportswoman of the day award.
