QuadKids Final

On Tuesday 13th June, 8 athletes in year 5 and 6 attended the Hounslow Borough Quadkids Athletics finals at Osterley Athletics Centre, after having won their Chiswick cluster competition. The Quadkids Athletics event requires all the children to compete in four different athletic disciplines which includes 75m sprint, 600m run, standing long jump and vortex throw. They earn points with every performance and the child / team with the most points are the winners. There were some impressive individual performances, with Jack winning his sprint race and finishing joint first in the vortex with an impressive throw of 38m and Manon and Isabella finishing 2nd and 3rd respectively in the 600m. Overall the team finished 8th with Jack our highest ranking boy finishing 5th individually out of 133 athletes and Manon our highest ranking girl finishing 11th. UK Athletics also use the points system for this event to create different award steps which are recognised nationally. The steps range from 1 – 10 and then progress to bronze, silver and gold. All of our athletes achieved step 8 or higher, with Manny and Isabella both achieving the silver award and Manon and Jack each achieving the Gold award.
