STEM 2020

Children throughout school have loved this year's STEM week.

Professor Bubbleworks and the Planetarium brought interest and excitement through science this week.

Many fun science experiments were enjoyed in classrooms and outside.

Year 6 have been very lucky this week when they were given the opportunity to learn how to code on trinket.  Their codes were sent to our very own Belmont Astro-pi and the codes will then be sent to the International Space Station.  It was brilliant and the children feel they learnt a lot.  A once in a life time opportunity!  Thank to Alice Shimmin and Elise Everett for organising.

The Happy Puzzle company have delivered a coding workshop which required the children to work as a teamwork and demonstrate resilience.  They had to link a series of clues to crack codes on a series of locks. The locks had to be solved in sequence as a clock was ticking down. The aim was for teams ‘escape’ before the clock reached zero, by cracking the code of the final lock.

Children have also enjoyed using a variety of school IT equipment such as Tuff Cams and Dash and Dot.

Huge thanks to Mrs Gill, Miss Dunk, Miss Green, Miss Kay and Mrs Colgan-Jeffreys for their hard work and enthusiasm in organising a packed and exciting week.
