Inspire - Nurture - Flourish

Year 6 Greek day

Once again the playground was full of costumes with various greek goddesses and spartan warriors coming through the school gates! Year 6 had their dressing up day and workshop as part of their topic on the Ancient Greeks. They had a chance to taste some Greek food - the olives were a hit with some but not all. Then they had their workshop which saw them experience daily life back in Ancient Greece. Some were fortunate enough to be wealthy children, the boys getting the chance to attend lessons. Others were domestic servants, a few were sold as slaves and there was a good trade going on at the local market. They even had the chance to re-enact their own Olympics - the chariot race was particularly interesting as some of the children were the chariots! Finally they moved on to Greek mythology with some great props. Thanks to the BHSA for funding this workshop which really brings the topic to life!
