Hello and welcome to Belmont Reception!

Please could both Apples and Oranges all bring in book bags on a Wednesday.  They will now ALL be returned on Friday.

Children should come dressed ready in their PE kit on the day that their class has PE.

Please ensure your child always has a waterproof coat as we spend time outdoors everyday.

Reading:

The children have been working really hard on their phonics.  This week, all children have been issued a reading book on Collins Hub.

The book that they have been issued has been read in school 3 times this week.  The first read is for decoding, the second is to encourage prosody and the third is to check comprehension.

If you have signed up and paid for a hard copy of the reading book, you will also have this.  Unfortunately, the wallets ordered were not the ones that arrived, but hopefully this will be rectified for next week.  Apples class have an assortment of zippy wallets for this week as a temporary measure, as Book Bags had already gone home.   These are not their permanent bags so please just return with their books next week.

To make life slight easier for all, we are asking you to bring in their reading book and their reading record book in their Book Bags on Wednesday.  We will then change books and return to you on Friday.

Reading Record Book

Please let us know how the children get on with their books at home.  It can jut be a short comment about successes and any areas that they might have needed more support on.

Google Classroom and class logins:

The first lgfl login is for use in school.  The children will need this to login on to the school system.  You do not need to use this at home.

This week, we have posted an assignment on Google Classroom.  Please use your child’s Google Login to access this.  Here is a short video to show you how to login.

There is also helpful information and resources to further support your child in Phonics, Maths, fine and gross motor skills, and speech and language, so please do take a look.

Show and Tell

The children are encouraged to bring in something for Show and Tell during the week that they are on the rota.  This will then be shared at some point during that week.  It could be a memento of a trip, a photograph of a special outing or a favourite object or toy.  Please see the rota’s below.

Book of the Week – The great big book of families   

Our learning challenges for the week beginning 17/11/25

1. To learn some number bonds to 5 – we will be continuing our work on the composition of 5, by starting to try and remember some of the number bond pairs to 5.

2. To read a book – We will be continuing to work on our reading skills.

3. To make draw a picture of my family – the children will be looking at the picture that you have posted on Google Classroom and drawing their family.

Reading for pleasure books

As part of our focus on reading in school, we would like to develop the lending library of books within each class. This will enable the children to foster a passion and love of reading at Belmont and ensure that they have access to high quality texts.
Please find links to two book lists that have a variety of books that we would love to have in class.  Once a book has been donated to the class we will add a tick to show we now have it.  Please check the list to ensure that the book that you would like to donate is one that we don’t already have.
These books will be stamped to show who has generously donated them and shared with all the class.

Think Equal

Think Equal is a global initiative that seeks to end the discriminatory mindset across our world and ensure positive life outcomes for our children. This complimentary resource has been put together to help you to support your child’s social and emotional development in the home in fun and engaging ways. It  is to be used alongside the Think Equal programme and stories being used in school.

The Home Kit serves as a platform to reinforce topics covered in the classroom, fostering meaningful conversations at home. Through a variety of resources, games, and exercises, you can nurture your child’s growth and help them become empathetic, compassionate, and resilient individuals.
