Our Curriculum

To build knowledge and skills for all children in preparation for the next stage in education and life as engaged and successful citizens of the future.

Learning is creative and enquiry led to develop inquisitive learners who deepen their knowledge and understanding in all areas of the curriculum.  Cultural capital is developed for all children through opportunities that enhance the curriculum including mapped educational visits and workshops across the school and  enrichment weeks e.g. STEM.  These contribute to narrowing the gap for SEND and disadvantaged pupils.

Enriching The Curriculum

Children across the school enjoy exciting educational visits that have been mapped to ensure that the ‘Belmont child’ experiences a diverse range of activities and places, making the most of London whilst avoiding repetition.

We also plan for the children to visit the seaside and other ‘essential’ childhood places e.g. the zoo, a farm and some key museums e.g. the Natural History Museum, the London Transport Museum and Science Museum.

Visitors are invited into school to enhance the curriculum and regularly include authors, artists, parents and other members of our local community.  We plan a number of focused enrichment weeks:  STEM, Creative Arts, Health and Well-being, Climate Change, Anti-bullying and Book Week.

Outdoor Learning

To provide a range of different opportunities for children to participate in a range of practical activities and experiences outdoors. Our ethos is provide to the children with the freedom to explore, touch, smell, listen to and feel what it is like to be in the great outdoors.

Forest school provides opportunities for the children to learn to play, explore and experience the natural world in every season and through a variety of weather conditions. It will give the children the opportunity and freedom to run, jump, climb, crawl, roll, dig, chop, sing, shout and use their creatively without the constraints of walls and barriers that may constrict them. Each class receive a 6-week programme during the school year.

You can view our school performance data at the DfE website and the Ofsted website.
