On their trip to the Thames Explorer Trust, Year 4 discussed the features of rivers and then played a floor game which involved creating a natural river habitat and gaining an understanding of food chains and adaptations. They looked at how the environment has changed over time and how pollution and human impact can pose a danger to living things and the environment.

On the pier, the children used scientific equipment to measure the air and water temperatures and the depth of the river. They then performed an experiment to assess the pH of the water in the River Thames. The children considered how the river was used during different historical periods.

A great day was had by all despite the rain!
