Y2 – Latest Class Notices

Welcome to the Year Two Notice Board

KS1 Neurodiversity Celebration Week – March 16th to 20th 2026

During the week beginning 16th March, all pupils from Y1 to Y6 will engage in a variety of activities that will support their awareness and knowledge of neurodiversity terms and concepts at an age-appropriate level. Awareness and knowledge is the first step towards developing a whole Belmont community with positive attitudes towards neurodiversity and neurodivergence.

In KS1 (Y1 & Y2), the children will have an assembly at the start of the week where they will learn that neurodiversity is a way to describe how all of us are different in the way we think, feel and learn.

The children will then complete a class quiz together with their teacher.

DT

We will be making pizza using their pupil designs during WB 23.3.26 as part of our DT project. Could you please provide £1 for the ingredients. Children will then make their pizza and bring it home to share with their family, if they wish to share it that is! We just ask that your child passes this onto their class teacher from the beginning of the week please.

Science

We are looking at animal life cycles in Science and as part of this we have asked pupils to bring in a photo of themselves as a baby/toddler. The children will then play ‘Guess the baby’ as we talk about how we change as we get older. Please ensure that your child has their name written on the back or it is in a clear wallet or envelope – these will be kept safe and returned. If you do not have a physical copy of the photo that you can provide then please just email the school office and attach your photo. We need these in school by Wednesday 18th March.

Gardening

We have changed out timetable around a little and have moved Gardening to Friday mornings. In the Summer term we will move into doing Forest School again.

Lunches

Please can you make sure you have booked your child’s school lunches on MCAS. This also includes packed lunches.

Glue Sticks – Send a glue stick in with your child as we are extremely low on these and use them daily.

Home School Partnership 2025 – Thank you to those who attended our Home School Partnership Evening. We have uploaded the slides to the class Google Classroom in the Classwork section – Parents Topic.

Phonics Presentation Autumn 2025 – Thank you to those who attended our Phonics presentation in Aut 1. We have uploaded the slides to the class Google Classroom in the Classwork section – Parents Topic.

PASSWORD Log in sheets – New log in sheets have been provided so please use the up to date copy. Most are the same as before but some log in passwords/username have to change each year so please note that you have a new Little Wandle eCollins log in for reading books and a new Discovery QR code.

Books including sharing books, Little Wandle (physical and eCollins), homework books and library books have all been given out every Thursday so please check your child’s bag. Please return these every Wednesday morning.

We are going to be setting homework and changing books on Thursdays in Year 2. We will see how this works going forward as it is different to the arrangements last year.

Please except the invitation to your child’s class via Google Classroom and check this noticeboard regularly.

To support a smooth transition into school, encourage your child to join their class line and walk in independently with their peers.

  • Please note: Year 2 children should wait in the playground until 8:55 AM. They do not enter the building early like KS2 students, unless otherwise stated e.g. When it is raining.

Pick up information – At the end of the day, Year 1 children can be collected from the area near the climbing frame at the far end of the playground. Please wait for the teacher to dismiss your child, as they have been asked to stay with their class until called.

Water Bottles  Please ensure that your child brings a named water bottle to school with them each day so that they can hydrate regularly throughout the day.

Playtime Snacks – If your child is bringing a snack in for playtime, please ensure that it is a small/well portioned, healthy snack that can be eaten within a short space of time. No sweets, biscuits or food containing nuts or traces of nuts should be brought in.
