Enriching the Curriculum

Children across the school enjoy exciting educational visits that have been mapped to ensure that the ‘Belmont child’ experiences a diverse range of activities and places, making the most of London whilst avoiding repetition.

We also plan for the children to visit the seaside and other ‘essential’ childhood places e.g. the zoo, a farm and some key museums e.g. the Natural History Museum, the London Transport Museum and Science Museum.

Visitors are invited into school to enhance the curriculum and regularly include authors, artists, parents and other members of our local community.  We plan a number of focused enrichment weeks:  STEM, Creative Arts, Health and Well-being, Climate Change, Anti-bullying and Book Week.

Money Week

Working in partnership with ‘My Money Week’ the national charity set up with the aim of making children confident with money, we provided the children from Nursery -Year 6 with activities and experiences to teach them financial vocabularly, introduce new money related concepts to them and give them a broad overview of how important understanding money is to help them become successful citizens of the future.

STEMP Enrichment Week

(Science Technology Engineering & Mathematic)
Our first week back in school was very special for many reasons, one of them being it was STEM Enrichment week!

During the week every child in Belmont experienced a focus on all 4 STEM areas, science, technology (computing), engineering and maths. Each year group planned a wide range of opportunities for their children to experience activities, online events and WOW demonstrations.

Here are some highlights of the week!

The older children learnt about STEM careers and people who have been inspirational in the past and present. Perhaps some Belmont children will follow in their footsteps…..

Finally the week came to an end with every child taking home a ‘Do Science With Me’ card. Once again Belmont families had fun and learnt together to find all manner of ways to experiment with their objects! The children enjoyed sharing their investigations in Google Classroom.
