Our Year 2 children had a wonderful time making their own lanterns with tealights inside to help remember the
past. They carefully followed instructions and looked out for bossy verbs like cut, fold, stick, and place. We
explored historical artefacts and used Florence Nightingale’s famous lantern as inspiration to design our own.
The children learned how lanterns were made and why they were important long ago. These beautiful lanterns
will be a special part of our Year 2 assembly, where we will share what we have learned about Florence and her
work.
