Belmont Primary School Celebrates Exceptional OFSTED Success
We are thrilled to share the outstanding results of Belmont Primary School’s recent OFSTED inspection, held over two days in March. Welcoming four of His Majesty’s Inspectors to our school, this marked our very first inspection under the new OFSTED Report Card system — and the results were exceptional.
Under OFSTED’s new and significantly more rigorous framework, Belmont achieved an extremely high standard across the inspection areas, reflecting the school’s excellent, consistent work and its positive impact on children and learners. The new grading system has raised expectations nationally, with “Strong” widely recognised as surpassing the previous “Outstanding” judgement.
Highlights from the Inspection
Inspectors praised Belmont’s nurturing ethos and ambitious culture, recognising that:
“Pupils make great progress from their starting points, enjoy their learning and are articulate, successful learners.”
The report celebrated the school’s deeply inclusive environment, noting:
“An inclusive culture is well-established across the school… pupils are nurtured from the early years onwards.”
Belmont’s warm and caring atmosphere was also highlighted through the school’s approach to behaviour and relationships:
“High expectations for behaviour are balanced with compassion. This is rooted in highly positive relationships between staff and pupils.”
The Early Years provision received particularly glowing feedback, with inspectors recognising the skilled support children receive to develop confidence, concentration and vocabulary from the very beginning of their school journey.
Inspectors were also impressed by Belmont’s rich opportunities beyond the classroom, celebrating the school’s commitment to music, sport, the arts, educational visits and personal development. The report concluded that pupils leave Belmont as:
“Confident and resilient young people, thoroughly prepared for their next steps.”
Leadership across the school was commended for maintaining both academic rigour and a joyful learning environment where every child can flourish.
