Beautify Belmont

On Saturday a large group of parents and children descended on Belmont to tackle a list of jobs aimed at sprucing up our school site. Picnic tables were painted in the new school navy paint, the wilderness garden was pruned, weeded and cleared. Walls and blackboards were painted, the climbing frames were spruced up and some dedicated volunteers tackled the infant playground fence. During all the hard work, tea, coffee and juice were distributed and the children helped with the painting or played. Credit must also go to the Dad who took on the gazebo sorting, which now means they are ready for the fair. Pizza turned up as the rain did and everyone ran for the canteen, where people took the chance for a quick break. It was lovely to see how many people met someone they didn't know before and all worked together.

Thanks to all those that turned up, whether for an hour, or the stalwarts that stayed until 3pm and beyond. It has made a real difference to the site and just in time for the Summer Fair.

Huge thanks must also go to Nick Fletcher and Helen Hoey for masterminding  and planning the day. They were in from 8am, having already prepared many jobs in the weeks before. There were work stations, brushes laid out, paint at the ready and everything we needed to get on with the jobs.
