Minister for Culture visits Belmont

The Minister of State for Culture and the Digital Economy came to visit Belmont today. A past pupil of some 40 years ago, Ed Vaizey remembered doing PE in the middle hall, learning his times tables in Willow and Elm, and playing in the playground. He had very fond memories of Belmont and was delighted to come back.

During his visit, we held a special music assembly where a number of children played and sang. They performed brilliantly with songs from Frozen and My Fair Lady as well as more classical numbers. The children then got the chance to ask questions and were delighted to hear that the Minister was responsible for the Natural History and Science Museums, internet in the UK and computer games. He was questioned on his views on having a Wikipedia page and whether UKIP had a chance in the upcoming election! The children heard about why and how the Minister became an MP, then a Minister and what his ambitions were for Britain. We may have some future Newsnight journalists in the making!
