Samuel Pepys meets Apricots and Damsons

Year 2 got dressed up in all of their historical finery to take part in a workshop on the Great Fire of London. This re-enactment of the events of 1666 brought their topic to life for them, as they tell us below. Thanks to the BHSA for funding this workshop.

The highlight of the Rainbow Workshop was meeting Samuel Pepys. He rang the bell to tell us to listen to him. I found it very fun. I was a toddler called Sarah and I was told to go and get the doctor. He had a mask that looked rather like a bird’s beak. He looked quite scary. Daniel was a dog called Rex. He was killed because they believed that dogs and cats spread the plague. But only the rats spread the plague.

First I was introduced to Samuel Pepys. He was very nice. I was a dog called Rex. I had a onesie. Sienna was a baby. I got killed and the babies were crying. The doctors had a funny mask which had a pointy nose. At the end we got a photo. It was very fun.
