The Belmont Oscars

The Year 5 presentation to parents took place this week, with a fabulous show that the children wrote, directed and performed. Using all they had learnt in their 'Lights, Camera, Action' topic, they told their audience a huge amount of information about the film industry, delivered through Oscar acceptance speeches. They performed famous songs, such as 'Over the Rainbow'  and dance routines from 'Singin' in the Rain'. They created and choreographed a great comedy scene reminiscent of those in the silent movies. There was a live shadow puppet show,  flute performances and even  a short animation, created in ICT about poor Mr Bump, available shortly.

It was a wonderful show, both factual and funny with the roof raised yet again by the enthusiastic singing that produced a few goose bumps amongst the audience!

A review from Katie in Year 5:

The Belmont Oscars was a huge success. Everyone played a role and played it well. We all tried really hard to make it perfect and learn our parts. The end result was brilliant, everyone was very into their character. The Bollywood dancers had their shimmy. The Presenters had their sparkle.  The recipients had their emotions.

We are all very sad it is over but we are looking forward to our year 6 show and performing again.

One of the actors Ruby says: It was really fun to work on and we all did our bit to write the script.

One of our presenters Helen says: It was really fun to learn our roles.
