The sun shone in Bournemouth
Year 2 had their big trip today as they went to Bournemouth as part of their 'Water, Water Everywhere' topic. There was water everywhere and plenty of sand too!
After the two hour coach journey with many a 'are we nearly there?' we arrived in Bournemouth and headed straight for the Oceanarium. We saw turtles, sharks and rays and two otters called Roxy and Stan. There was an alligator and hundreds of different fish. We walked through the tunnel and watched as the sharks swam over head.
We then went over to the beach to sketch out the landscape and play. We had lunch and then it was time for 'Operation Paddle'. Sixty children, an uneven seabed and lots of adults on patrol (in the sea). You can see for yourselves in the photos below how much fun they had, they laughed, screamed, squealed and cheered as the cold water cooled them down. There were only a few changes of clothes.
After that it was time for sandcastle building and ice creams before getting the coach back home. A few of the children fell asleep on the way back, whilst some of the adults had a quick snooze too.
We even made the local ITV news as they were filming on the beach!
Thanks to Miss Thompson for coordinating and to Miss Stephens, Mrs Trafford, Mrs Sandhu, Julia, Faye and Cassie as well as the parents who accompanied us. It was a great day out!
