Y4 cast a spell at WB Studios

On Wednesday morning I arrived at school and we were escorted into our groups. On the coach, I sat next to my good friend Tom, and found out my seat reclined the furthest. When we arrived I was very happy to be there, however I was let down by the sight of a huge yellow building. I was expecting some more colour. The only redeeming feature was the posters of different movie scenes which were really cool. When we got outside we were given passports with activities to do in them.

Once we got inside things looked up, and so did we! On the ceilings were large, colourful and impressive pictures of the most common characters from the Harry Potter movies. First we saw a short video of how Warner Bros. studios were set up and the funny bit was when Daniel Radcliffe said that Cruikshanks looked like he had been hit in the face by a frying pan. Emma Watson was outraged!

After that we eagerly entered the Great Hall - it was a large room with gargoyles hanging on the wall and beautifully floating candles hanging above us by fishing lines.

Then we went into a large and eerily lit room full of props and scenes they used in the movies. We explored the room and the thing that struck out the most to me was the Hogwarts train. It was a life-sized train, about 50 metres in length and 3 metres in width.

After we had lunch we went into the second part of the studio which had props, sketched, a movie set and a scale model of Hogwarts. We were all thrilled to be able to push loads of buttons that moved the different models and watched various videos of different characters, such as Professor Flitwick.

Finally we left the building, boarded the coach and headed back to our very own Hogwarts, Belmont Primary School.
