Y5 cooking trip to Chiswick School

On Tuesday 13th October Sycamore visited Chiswick School and on Wednesday 14th October Chestnut visited. We walked in pairs and worked in partners when we got there. We walked through Chiswick Park which was lovely! Once we arrived we were taken to the cookery department and went through some safety rules and were reminded we would be cooking apple crumble. Some of us wondered why we would be cooking apple crumble and Miss Simmons (the teacher) told us that in World War 2 people grew lots of apples in their back gardens and it was a war time favourite. It linked to our topic at the moment, rationing. We were then shown how to make the crumble and given a recipe. Each pair then went to their station and got started. When we finished making our crumble we were able to take it home and eat it! They were delicious! It was a fantastic trip and we all can't wait to go back to make bread next month.
