School Council

Our School council is Belmont’s Board of children who help Miss Coates organise events to do with the pupils.     Two reps are chosen to represent their class at the meetings, and they do this for half of the school year before handing over to new reps in the spring half-term.

Children from Years 2-6 get the chance to put themselves forward to be elected by their classes.

Once on school council, the children from Years 5 and 6 get the chance to be secretary, assistant secretary, chair and vice-chair. The meetings are run by the chair and the minutes are written by the secretary.

Here is what some children who have been on School Council had to say about their experience:

Helen: It was fun to contribute ideas during the meeting and then have them discussed by the rest of the reps.

Katie: It was interesting to listen to other peoples ideas.
