Parents and carers

The strength of our relationships with parents and carers is crucial to our community.

We encourage parents and carers to be active partners in their children's education.

They are always welcome, and participate fully in the life of the School. We  actively encourage parents to approach us with any queries or concerns that they may have.

Parents and carers support their children's learning in a variety of ways, both at home and in school. Many volunteer to help in the classroom by listening to children read or join in with activities such as cooking, sport or arts and crafts. Others help with performances and productions, accompany us on school trips, or cheer on our children at sports events.

Termly parent-teacher meetings and annual written reports  keep parents and carers up to date with their children's progress, and there are also more informal opportunities for communication with class teachers and, if necessary, School leaders. The School communicates regularly with parents and carers using our ParentMail (email) system and website.  The School Office is open daily for enquiries and advice.

Our Governing Body has 5 parent governors who join for a 4 year term of office and help to define the direction and strategy for the School.

Our excellent Belmont Home School Association offers another channel for communication and consultation with parents, as well as opportunities for socialising and fundraising.

Parent Volunteers

Parents who come on trips or volunteer in the school helping with reading/cooking/library etc must have an enhanced DBS check.  This policy is considered best practice under safeguarding guidelines.  We ask that parents pay £12 to cover the cost of this check.

To apply:

1) Please bring to reception 3 pieces of ID, including at least one piece of photo ID. The ID can include original copies of passport, driving license, utilities bill (within the last 3 months) council tax bill (within the last 3 months).  We will make a copy of your ID and give it straight back to you.

2) Log on to Parentpay and choose DBS check option and pay for it.

3) Your DBS check will be processed by our information Officer and you will receive your DBS to your home address in the post. When you receive it, please bring it in for us to see.

You will then be on our volunteer pool.
